I got an honorable mention on Sinful Sunday

I am so excited I have been wanting to do this contest for a while but then things happened and I didn’t get to it or forgot or I wasn’t moved by the picture but I was determined to do it at least once before the end of the year.

The short story I wrote was erotically naughty so if you’d like to read it it’s here , because I don’t know how to put the explicit material on this blog. I’m looking into it. If anyone wants to tell me how I would appreciate it 😉

So they have a guest judge every week and that judge is the winner from the week before @LovelyBrutal on Twitter was last weeks winner, thus this weeks judge and this is what she had to say about my submission:

Honorable Mention 1 – Leela Lou Dahlin. The bright edge of competition made this entry so unforgettable. The characters struggle with delicious tension within themselves and between each other, and the sparse dialogue allows us to see into their relationship, and to feel their need becoming magnified in each other’s presence. The pacing keeps this piece charismatic, engaging, and enjoyable.

This is the perfect ending to 2012…leaving me all kinds of inspired for 2013. Be safe everyone and Happy New Year.

Let’s call resolutions something else

I think this year I’m going to call my New Year’s resolutions something else, because for me they never last very long. They are always something I want to do so I don’t know why after about 2 weeks I’m no longer doing them.

I love lists and ways to look at the progress you’ve made. Similar to the way the NaNoWriMo helped me increase my input I found a woman who made a spreadsheet that is great for writers or bloggers. It’s easy and fun (at least for me, but I told you how I like this kind of stuff) and she made it free for anyone who wants to download and use it. I’ve already downloaded it so I can tell you it’s safe. The creator of the document is Jamie Raintree and this is her spreadsheet.  If you do download her sheet with the link you could tell her Leela sent you, not that she knows who I am I just thought it’d be nice.

I’m still figuring out what I want to concentrate on for *clears throat* what I’d like to do in the new year that will be different from the past years but I still have a couple of days to square all that up, right 🙂

I’m thankful for each and every person who follows or reads this blog of my mental meandering and I leave you with something I found on this morning.

That should just set the tone of the day. Thanks everyone…make good choices 🙂

Every year I say a lot of things are going to happen in the new year. I’m going to exercise more, eat less, write more, learn about writing less… Anyway every year I say I’m going to be ready for Christmas way before the holiday season is staring me in the face but…. unfortunately this wasn’t the year that happened.

I found myself at the mall/boutique/misc stores with all the other “You mean Christmas is THIS Tuesday” people. It wasn’t fun and I took in the rushing uncomfortable day with grains of salt because whose fault is this? Mine.

I intended to do the Sinful Sunday Flash Fiction Contest – this would have been my first week, but I couldn’t come up with anything for the picture they chose. I could have written a good little story for all the other pictures…well maybe not the one with the girl with the guys fingers in her mouth. She looked to young and I couldn’t come up with anything for that picture either. There is always next week…right? If you get a chance and like a quick hot read go and check out the contest. Maybe even submit today.

The last thing I intended to do was to be a part of the 6 sentence Sunday. I think I was too late to do it with a group but I can submit my six sentences here…on my blog. So here we go. From recently completed work – Rumor Has It

“Is it true that you bring every woman you’re with to completion.”

“Completion?” He was still reading. Hopefully she could get this all out before she got the attention that came with the focused forest green eyes.

“Yes…completion…orgasm…whatever. Is it true?” There went her calm tone she knew she should have skipped the coffee and had the green tea instead.

He still appeared to be into the article but there was something in his demeanor that made her think he was paying more attention to what she was saying.

“Why do you ask?”He was still looking at the magazine but now he was flipping pages. He seemed to be looking at no specific item just absently turning pages.

    “I told you I heard a rumor.”

Well at least I did something I intended to do today. Now on to wrapping those gifts 🙂

Happy “Everyone is still here”…Friday

Well although I hadn’t really thought we were going anywhere or that anything was going to happen there is always that small part of your mind that says…maybe.  So anyway I’m glad I woke up this morning without any zombies or oddities.

So this day and everyday…remember to count your blessings and hug your loved ones.

Five things I learned about myself this November

Yay! I finished my NaNoWriMo. I did a specialty event with Savvy Authors and Entangled Publishing for NaNoWriMo  this year it was called Entangled Smack Down and it was great I met so many great people. I also learned a bit about myself.

Here are the 5 things I learned about myself –

5. I am very competitive – I probably should have already known that, but I didn’t know to what extent.

4. The book will come together if you don’t let yourself get distracted by the SNI (Shiny New Idea).  We had outlines that had been looked over by editors and I was thinking that I had a pretty good story. Until I started to write it and then I started thinking like I normally do…This is crap I know I had a better idea. That is why I have a lot of stories that are started but in the TBC (to be continued) file for later. I worked through this book and I have to tell you I really love it. Not only that, but I have other stories that are going to be coming from the same group of firemen. Yay me 🙂

3. There are a lot of talented writers who are published and are still learning. That is good for me to know because I love to work on my craft and it’s good to know that the talented women (and I’m sure men, but I didn’t meet any men so I can’t speak of them) keep learning.

2. I can write 8000 words in one day. Not just any words but words that form sentences. These sentences sound pretty  good in paragraphs…that work up to chapters…and go on. Good to know. huh?

1.  I can do what I set out to do. I can write 50,000 in less than 30 days. I did it in 16 and that’s because I slowed down. I don’t say that to brag but I seriously didn’t think I could do something like that and do you know why?  See the 5th thing I learned about myself. It’s good to know because I was competing with myself and guess what I’m always around if I want some more friendly competition.

I’m not waiting for next years NaNo to start writing competivly.  I’ve got some goals for myself this 2013. One of them is I want to write 8 category romance novels.  Now that I wrote it down and it’s in the internet universe I’ve thrown down my own gauntlet and it is an official challenge. Thank goodness for the 5th thing I learned about myself 🙂

Keep me honest 🙂

Happy Tuesday

So I have this book I titled A Wish Granted.  I would love for it to be the first book I have published. During Savvy Author’s Summer Symposium I had two requests from Carina Press and Entangled Publishing. Unfortunately the book didn’t work for either of them.  So I am off to see if I can get someone else to look at it.

I heard about Escape Publishing, probably because they’re new and figured what the heck. It’s done and not under review with anyone so why not.  Here is the pitch that was noticed by Carina Press and Entangled Publishing.

Allyn enjoys the sexy role play that allows her to be close to the man she wants, while keeping her heart at a distance. The week of her best friend’s wedding everything starts to fall apart, one of the bridesmaids tries to expose a dark secret from Allyn’s past, Logan the man she loves, wants to change the rules and bring their relationship out of the closet but she’s afraid that the bride-to-be, Logan’s sister, will not condone the relationship. Allyn must decide is she going to keep her true feelings concealed and live with lies or will she stop hiding behind the games, risk it all and accept what Logan’s offering as a wish granted.

I’ll keep you posted on how that turns out. Here is a picture of what I think Logan looks like. Just to point out I get most of these pictures on

I finally found Liam

I’ve been editing my WIP I’ve named Rumor Has It. Yes I know another popular author has a book coming out soon with the same title. The title is perfect for this book and if  it’s ever contracted and they want it changed, it won’t be a problem .

It starts off with Raina Gibson asking her best friend of 4 years Liam Prescott to help her with a problem she’s been having. It’s sexual in nature and since she’s talked to several women who know she is friends with him, rumor has it he could be the one to help.

This was my NaNoWriMo story and I loved the characters. I’ve decided it’s going to be a series for the fireman. Liam the Fire Lieutenant and two firemen Brody who also works as a bartender at a club named Paradise and Ethan the tough playboy who’s an’ under cover romantic.

I always try to have a picture of the couple I’m writing about but I couldn’t find one of Liam. After the book was written but before the edits I found the perfect Liam.

Pretty, huh.  Yep. You’re welcome 🙂
